Meet Dr. Greenblatt
| The most significant lesson I relearn with every patient is how complex our uniqueness really is. The concept of individuality extends beyond looks, intelligence and personality. This individuality defines our core metabolism and biochemistry. This unique metabolic puzzle supports our ability to pay attention, inhibit unwanted behaviors and regulate our moods." — James Greenblatt, MD |
Dr. James Greenblatt has dedicated his professional career to using integrated psychiatry to treat mental illness. He employs both medical and complementary therapies to help his patients function better and achieve their personal goals.
After spending many years as psychopharmacologist, Dr. Greenblatt became acutely aware that although medications are effective in reducing psychiatric symptoms, they do not address underlying biochemical imbalances and have many undesirable side effects.
Dr. Greenblatt started Comprehensive Psychiatric Resources in an effort to integrate medical and natural therapies into the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Working with thousands of children, adolescents and adults, Dr. Greenblatt found that each individual has a unique biochemical profile, range of behaviors, and treatment needs. Dr. Greenblatt helps individuals to uncover the underlying causes of imbalance, directing them towards the treatments best suited for their needs.
Dr. Greenblatt is dually board certified in child and adult psychiatry. He received his medical degree and completed his adult psychiatry residency at George Washington University in Washington D.C. He completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Medical School. Dr. Greenblatt is founder and Medical Director of Comprehensive Psychiatric Resources, Inc. and is a clinical faculty member at Tufts Medical School, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Greenblatt is also Chief Medical Officer of Walden Behavioral Care, the largest Continuum of Eating Disorder Services on the east coast.
Dr. Greenblatt lectures extensively throughout the United States and gives talks on integrative therapies for mental health.
